I love the metallic clutches! I wear all black (my mom calls me "The Sicilian Widow") so a little sparkle to jazz up my mennonite garb always gives some zing.

- NIN's Trent Reznor who is going back on tour
- Artist Tauba Auerbach who made my fabulous K drawing
- Sirius XM Channel 33, 1st Wave: Classic Alternative, because I'll always be a child of the '80s
- abcKitchen in NYC - orgasmic food and my new culinary addiction
- Skulls - I have them in art all over my apartment; I love carpe diem reminders, like a modern vanitias
- Babies - mine are older but I live for my niece Olive and miss that phase (not enough to shit out a fourth though)
- The color gray (the new chocolate brown) - and the backdrop of my whole living room
- Hugo Guinness woodcuts - I love the graphics so much
- Red wine; daily 6pm indulgence, I don't care if it's from a box
- MadMen - my favorite show of all time. It's beautiful and amazing and I lie awake thinking about the characters.
WHO OR WHAT INSPIRES YOU AND WHY?
New York City. It's been my home for 39 years (except for school in nearby Connecticut) and it feeds me every day.
DO YOU HAVE ANYTHING IN THE WORKS NOW - ANY SNEAK PEEKS?
I'm working on a half hour comedy for Bravo and a new collection of essays as a follow up to SOMETIMES I FEEL LIKE A NUT.
YOUR FAVORITE PLACE YOU HAVE EVER TRAVELED TO AND WHY?
Paris. I'd live there in a heartbeat. I go every year or so and just worship it.
WHAT IS YOUR BEAUTY SECRET?
Water. Tons. I chug it all day long.

Peanut butter milkshakes.
WHAT ARE YOU DOING THIS SUMMER AND WHAT ARE YOU READING?
I'm here roasting in NYC and then will take the kiddies to Nantucket to stay with Grammy and Poppy. I'm reading the Game of Thrones series to fill in some holes from the show.
WHAT IS ON YOUR T.V. AND WHAT SHOWS ARE YOU LOVING?
Per above book obsession, Game of Thrones. I hate magic and flying things and creatures that don't exist in real life but somehow I f*cking love it. Inexplicable.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE BOOK YOU HAVE WRITTEN AND WHY?
Definitely SOMETIMES I FEEL LIKE A NUT because it was the most fun to write and they put it in the humor section of the bookstores which was a huge honor. It actually was No. 3 on the humor bestseller list after Amy Sedaris and Chelsea Handler so I was elated.
ANY MUST READ BOOKS FOR THIS SUMMER?
I'm starting La Seduction about how the French "play the game of life."
The New York Times gave it an amazing review last year and it has been in my pile ever since.

WHO IS JILL KARGMAN AND WHY DO WE LOVE HER?
As I was packing up for my summer vacation I was pondering through my bookcase full of self help and self improvement books and decided to venture on the wild side and read something else. A friend had given me the book SOMETIMES I FEEL LIKE A NUT a little while ago and inscribed on the first page was "for a good time ... read this."
I did and I have never laughed so hard in my life. I am talking pee in your pants funny, with tears streaming down your face funny and where you look around to find someone to share it with because you too have been there, FUNNY! I swear I felt better and more alive from reading her memoir than any self help book I have read lately.
Jill is a wife, mother of 3 and a New York Times Bestselling author based in NYC. She has written 11 books I can count, written countless magazine articles and is wickedly smart & refreshingly funny. What she will not tell you in her bio is that she graduated from Yale in 3 years, her father was the President of Chanel AND her SIL is Drew Barrymore! I am not sure why I am so drawn to her ... maybe it is the fact that we both share 8 inch scars from cancer, are creative and are not afraid to laugh at ourselves.
